Yesterday, the independent think tank Resolution Foundation launched "Squeezed Britain", their annual report on the lives of the six million low to middle income households in the UK, those who are "too poor to thrive in private markets, and yet too rich to receive substantial state support."
The document sets out their current economic situation and assesses their future prospects. Backed up with original research and rigorous economic analysis, it presents an informative snapshot of what life for those who "are not the poorest in society, but are struggling to get by" looks like. It highlights how their living standards have been affected by the recession, recent rises in the cost of living, tax credits cuts and stagnating wages.
The Innovation Unit's design studio is very proud to have collaborated with the Resolution Foundation on this important publication. Working together to define engaging ways of communicating the wealth of data gathered, through well-crafted infographics and an accessible layout, was a particularly rewarding process.
